ERKADO

ERKADO is a family run company with 45 years experience in door joinery and their products are available in 28 countries across the world. They skillfully combine tradition with the latest modern solutions and exceptional attention to the smallest detail.
Their various models differ depending on the type of leaf infill, glazing, finishes and colours.
The most popular choice are framed doors due to their durability and timeless design. Panel doors, on the other hand, have a very modern look and appeal to those who prefer minimalism. The choice of a particular solution is a matter of individual preference. When choosing interior doors, pay attention to the smallest details and the possible options to choose from.
FRAMED DOORS
Framed door is characterised by a solid frame made of MDF or glued timber, permanently bonded to a 22 mm or 35 mm thick crossbar with dowels. The infill of the door leaf consists of panels of different shapes finished from the outside with a high-quality Greko or CPL veneer or a combination of their premium features.
The doors are glazed on the rebate. Three 2-pin hinges ensure smooth, silent, and effortless operation of the sash. Framed doors are heavier than panel doors, therefore more resistant to a deformation. Thanks to the variety of fillings and covering materials used, they can be easily matched to a particular style.

PANELLED DOORS
Slab doors are constructed using frames made of MDF or wood with stable panels attached to them to form a uniform surface. These frames remain invisible to the user. The outer layer is made of wood-based HDF panels coated with a selected decor.
The infill used inside the construction has a significant impact on the acoustic performance, durability and also the price of the door.
A cardboard stabilising insert made of rigid and pressure-resistant paper, commonly referred to as ‘honeycomb’, is used as standard in this type of doors. The key benefit of doors featuring this solution is their lightweight design. The solid board infill (offered at an extra charge) increases the durability and stability of the door leaf structure and guarantees very good soundproofing.

CHOICE OF FRAME
Choosing the right frame is crucial. There are two main types of frame: fixed (9 cm wide) and adjustable. Adjustable frames can be adapted to the thickness of the wall (ranges from 8 cm to as much as 42 cm!). These are undoubtedly the best solution if you are looking for a contemporary design and are much quicker to install, however these are more cost effective.
In case of an adjustable door frame, we also choose the finishing method, i.e. the way the bands are joined (at a fixed or 45-degree angle) and their thickness (6 or 8 cm), which affects the final appearance.

REBATED VS NON-REBATED DOORS
Rebated doors are very popular and still more common than non-rebated doors. They are particularly favoured by classic arrangements.
A rebated door leaf is a door leaf that partly overlaps the door frame when the door is closed and partly retracts into it. Such doors do not form a single line with the door frame; instead, there is a clear step between the two surfaces. In rebated doors, the hinges are visible – they can be seen on the side to which the rebated interior door opens.

In non-rebated doors, the leaf edge is flush with the frame (hinges are invisible), which gives the interior a very modern, stylish character and the door appears to be built into the wall.
This type of door is more demanding to install and adjusting the hinges can be a little more complicated.
Regardless of the potential challenges non-rebated doors are an option that is increasingly and willingly chosen because of their modern nature.
All ERKADO door models are available in rebated and non-rebated options.
